Oh Right, totally forgot about Bon Jovi

So...my 40ish generation that lived through acid washed jeans, leg warmers over high top (preferably LA Gear) shoes, puffy Princess Diana shoulders on all our shirts and the big haired perms (that are thankfully now back only in New Jersey) all joined together to see Bon Jovi on Monday night. They were awesome and it was a great night. Beth of Team Wade Advice joined us as did Mrs. Lesser. Fun night and great food and drinks!

Cherry Blossoms

Here are a few pictures from yesterday on the Mall. The Cherry Blossoms are peaking, and it is beautiful. Rad Brad said he won't drive us around the tidal basin on Sunday, something about huge crowds and all...figures! Anyhow the ones in the Quad at UW are a lot more pink, I could be a bit biased about it but I think they are prettier than the mostly white in DC. Either way, it is finally spring! Following Easter I will post the results from the annual adult mini liquor bottle hunt. Always a good time, especially with the swap of bottle afterwards!

Happy Pappy Strikes Again

Can it get any better than this? Happy Pappy gives another quote. Please remember this is comparing my swim practice attendance to some sort of free floating particle in space and a mutual friend that has made a few appearances at the pool as well:

"Guess who was at swimming this morning - Mei Mei. She said she has been 4 or 5 times lately. It was the first I had seen her. Had you seen her? I am guessing not. It is sorta like quantum physics in that at any given moment in time it is impossible to tell exactly where a specific particle is. One can only give percentage chances of location, etc. I think this is a useful construct to frame the difficulty in determining whether you will be at the pool on any given morning, thus making the odds of you being there when Mei Mei is there somewhat remote. (somewhat? give me a break!) HA!, didn't think I could tie all that together, did you???"

New: Quotes from the Happy Pappy

I have a new column to add, it, like the advice column from Team Wade Team Captain, Beth, will be sporatic as it happens. Today's quote, from Happy Pappy (he can also go by Sport) goes like this, for every team that wins at the buzzer there is a team that loses at the buzzer - you can write that down as fact.

This,of course, is in regards to the firt weekend of March Madness NCAA Basketball. How can you not agree with a statement like that? Gotta love ol' Happy Pappy.

Where Do I Begin With This Weekend?

It was McB's 5th birthday. Fun was had by all, including a party crasher named "A" (who's mother dropped him off, didn't bother to see if she knew anyone and left for an hour). A was a nice kid, but again...no one knew him. His mom decided to be responsible AFTER the fact and say "oh honey, you must have been so scared and afraid" "How did you handle it without knowing anyone?" And the classic comment, "I thought it was weird he was the only one dressed as a pirate when the theme specifically said pirates, he felt very uncomfortable when he walked in and no one else was dressed up" REALLY? Well it was due to the fact IT WAS THE WRONG PARTY!!! His party, that he is to attend is NEXT Saturday.

So there was that, a party crasher, McB should be so thrilled to have such an 'it' party that it was crashed right?

we had our dance recital last Thursday, very cute and sweet, and lot of fun:

Finally, today we toured Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. It was great!

Oh and we took my folks to see Terra Cotta Warriors at the National Geographic Museum on Sunday, like I said, it was a busy weekend.

New Advise Column: Advice from Beth

This will now be an occassional blog post via my friend Beth, of Team Wade. Today's helpful hints and things to know:
1. clorox wipes DO NOT contain bleach. Call Poison control if you want but there is no bleach. (even if your child drinks teh end of the plastic container when the last wipe is pulled out).
2. If you sit on a tick, or get a tick anywhere on your body, smother it in vaseline. This will suffocate the tick. After that I am not sure what you do but the tick is dead**
3. Apparently some people call the boy parts 'shwantz' according to Beth...Chelsea Handler calls the girl parts 'peakachoo' ~Always good to know there are fun names to call the parts.

**update on ticks, apparently as long as the head has not burrowed in you can pull it out with tweezers once it stops moving. This works on pets too. As you can imagine this conversation all game about because a boy member of Team Wade may have sat on a tick at one time.

Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The Rain, the Rain, and now the Dance

A bit of rain here in DC the past few days...supposed to stop in the next 24 hours, I hope so becaue it is birthday week at the Buzz Shack. McB is turning 5! I can't believe it, she is still my little baby girl, only with opinions and thoughts of her own that are not always the same as mine!!! Later in the week I will post some pictures of her birthday.

The Dance...University of Washington Huskies basketball team won the Pac-10 Championship, they are now the 11 seed and will play Marquette on Thursday, in San Jose, CA. GO DAWGS!!!

Something I think you might be interested in, the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Michael Phelps has been named the first Ambassador for these games.

Finally, I am so addicted to the Bella, Edward, Jacob love triange! I read Twilight for book club and then I HAD TO KNOW, what happens next. So, I am on the third book, with one more to go. How did I go this long without reading them!?!

Discovery Channel Life; Something New I like

Starting March 21, check out Discovery Channel's new series Life. I found out about it on Cool Mom Picks. They say that it might not be for young children but I think McB and I will watch it and learn. Discovery spent 4 years filming this footage for an 11 part series. Stay tuned for their April 22 movie theater premier of The Ocean, in conjunction with Earth Day.

Found Something New That I Like

I have a friend, Christy Little Jones, and she has this wonderful organization that she created and runs by herself called; Mommy in Training. She does Mommy Minutes every day, so you can follow her on Twitter or Facebook, or check out her blog, I have just added it to my left side bar of blogs I follow. She is a wonderful and thoughtful mommy who wants every mom out there to lead a better and more balanced life. On April 24 she will be putting on her first Mommy in Training Conference and Exposition in Alexandria, VA. Check it out and sign up, I know it won't disappoint. Here is her website: www.mommyintraining.com

Finally a quick update from the Buzz Shack...today we sold McB's crib/toddler bed, that is the last of the baby stuff, kind of sad and yet the big girl bed is pretty awesome.

Something to Think About

It doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you are on to appreciate what Michelle Obama is trying to do to help our kids stay fit, get fit and be fit for life. Check out her website: www.letsmove.gov
I will post the blog on my list to the left for updates.

Also, don't forget this new website from the NFL: www.fueluptoplay60.com

Finally, a snow update: it is gone from my yard, hooray!! I can see some of the trash pad, yippee! I had to buy a bale of straw and spread it in parts of my yard, ugh. Then, I took some of the straw and spread it over by Jackie's house and the 'green box' because it was such a mud pit, yucky!
